In the Horologion, for the canons in Orthros, it specifies that the entire biblical odes should be chanted and then the troparia of the canon are chanted between the last few verses of each ode, depending on how many troparia there are. In practice this often no longer done. But I was wondering how these used to be chanted. Do the melodies appear in any Byzantine music books? Did they have their own special melodies or were they chanted like the kekragaria and ainoi based on the tone of the first troparion of the canon?
