Η χορωδία "Ρωμανός ο Μελωδός" ιδρύθηκε το 2000 και ξεκίνησε με μία συναυλία στην εκκλησία του Αγ. Γεωργίου, Σούκ Ελ Γκάρμπ με 30 μέλη, άνδρες και γυναίκες. Τα μέλη της χορωδίας είναι βασικά απόφοιτοι της σχολής "Ρωμανός ο Μελωδός" της Βηρυττού μαζί με φίλους της χορωδίας και μερικούς κληρικούς. Ο π. Ρωμανός Τζιμπράν είναι διευθυντής της χορωδίας και της σχολής Βυζαντινής Μουσικής. Η εκτέλεση της χορωδίας ακολουθεί τη σχολή του Σίμωνα Καρά σε συνδυασμό με τη σύγχρονη Αντιοχειανή παράδοση.

Σκοπός της χορωδίας είναι:

• να παρουσιάσει γνωστά μέλη του Πρωτοψάλτη του Πατριαρχείου Αντιοχείας Μίτρι Ελ Μούρ, του Αντράος Μουακίελ καθώς και νέες συνθέσεις.
• να παρουσιάσει ακολουθίες στα Αραβικά και στα Ελληνικά

Η χορωδία έχει δημοσιεύσει:

• Την πρώτη συναυλία στο Σουκ Ελ Γκάρμπ
• Ύμνους Πεντηκοσταρίου
• Ύμνους Μεγάλης Εβδομάδος

Έχει επίσης συμμετάσχει σε κοινές εκδηλώσεις

• στην ακολουθία της Παννυχίδος μαζί με τη χορωδία SEM του Λιβάνου [html]
• δύο CD με ηχογραφημένες κοινές συναυλίες σε δύο συνεχόμενα έτη με τη χορωδία SEM και τη χορωδία της επαρχίας Τριπόλεως και Χώρας του Λιβάνου [html] οι οποίες πραγματοποιήθηκαν για την 125η επέτειο του νοσοκομείου Αγ. Γεωργίου.

St. Romanos choir of Beirut was founded in the year 2000, it started with a recital done in St. George church, Souk el Gharb with 30 female and male psaltai. Members of the choir are essentially graduates of St. Romanos school of church music in Beirut in addition to some priests and friends of the choir. Father Romanos Gebran is the leader of the choir and director of the school. The choir's performance is based on Simon Karas' school in addition to the current Antiochian tradition.

The choir's purpose is:

• to perform well known chants especially Mitri Al Murr's, former protopsalti of the the Antiochian patriarchate, and Andraos Mouaikel's, in addition to some new recitations.
• to present other services with Arabic and even Greek recitations.

Some of the choir's publications:

• The first recital of Souk el Gharb
• The Pendikostari
• The Holy Week

In addition, there have been some joint performances with other choirs like:

• the Pannikhis (together with SEM, the school of ecclesiastic music in Mount Lebanon [html])
• 2 cds that were performed in common with both SEM and the choir of the eparchy of Tripoli and Koura [html] (These last 2 cds are the recordings of 2 recitals, performed in 2 consecutive years, for the celebration of the 125th anniversary of St. George's hospital)

The choir currently has 35 members (males and females) who perform recitals and participate in the new cd recordings.
