Η χορωδία της Ελληνορθόδοξης ενορίας της Τρίπολης, Κούρας και περιχώρων ιδρύθηκε
το 1991 με πρωτοβουλία του Μητροπολίτη Ηλία Κουρμπάν. Η χορωδία συναντάται τακτικά
για προετοιμασία (πρόβές) και για να βελτιώσει τη γνώση της παραδοσιακής Ψαλτικής
ιδιαίτερα ανάμεσα στους νέους. Η χορωδία ψάλλει σε ακολουθίες και ηχογραφεί δίσκους
όπως αυτός με ύμνους από την Κοίμηση της Θεοτόκου (βλ. ηχογραφήσεις πιό κάτω). Το
τελευταίο CD της χορωδίας έχει τίτλο "Ψαλμοί - Μέρος 1" με ψαλμούς σε σύνθεση του
πατρός Νικολάου Μάλεκ που κάνει και τις μονωδίες στο δίσκο. Στην επαρχία Τριπόλεως
του Λιβάνου λειτουργεί και σχολή Βυζαντινής Μουσικής. Παλαιότερα διαυθυντής ήταν
ο π. Νικόλαος Μάλεκ. Τώρα διευθυντής είναι ο Ουίσαμ Ελ Μούρ, αντι-πρόεδρος της χορωδίας.
Από το σχολείο αποφοιτούν αρκετοί μαθητές κάθε χρόνο. Πολλά μέλη της χορωδίας είναι
απόφοιτοι αυτής της σχολής. Οι δάσκαλοι της σχολής είναι επίσης μέλη και ιδρυτές
της χορωδίας.
The following description of the choir was offered by Tony Nasr, a choir member and teacher of the school:
"The Choir of the Greek Orthodox Parish of Tripoli, Koura and the Region consists
of a number of chanters mastering the rules of Byzantine music. The Choir was founded
on September 1st 1991 at the initiative of His Eminence Metropolitan Elias (Korban).
It mainly aims at grasping Byzantine music through regular and on-going meetings,
and through constant endeavors to perfect chanting, encourage youth and instigate
them to learn the correct chanting, according to inherited rules. The Choir also
aims at spreading Byzantine music through various activities, such as chanted evening
services, and releasing recordings, to name but a few. The management team consists
of the Choir Director, Vice-Director, Manager, Secretary, Accountant, Treasurer
and the Marketing Manager. The Choir holds regular weekly meetings, or when necessary.
The Choir celebrates its annual anniversary on September 8, at the Greek Orthodox
Archdiocese of Tripoli. The choir has many released recordings, below you will find
the troparion of the Dormition, extracted from the cd "Dormition of Virgin Mary
Service". Our latest CD is the "Psalms - Part 1", the psalms music are all composed
by Fr.Nikolas Malek and the solo chanting in the CD is by his voice, you will also
find below the first two phrases of the Psalm 117. I would like to inform you that
we have in the eparchy a Byzantine Music school, also previously directed by Fr.
Nikolas Malek and now is directed by Mr. Wissam El Murr, the current vice-director
of the Choir. Our school graduates many students every year, many of the choir members
graduated from the school and the other members are the main founders of the Choir
and teachers in the school."
