Prayer During Coronavirus Pandemic

Let us offer this prayer in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Lord Jesus Christ our God, You traveled through towns and villages “curing every disease and illness.” At Your command, the sick were made well. Come to our aid now, in the midst of the global spread of the coronavirus, that we may experience Your healing love.

Heal those O Lord who are sick with the virus. May they regain their strength and health through quality medical care.

Heal us from our fears, which prevents nations form working together and neighbors form helping one another.

Heal us from our pride, which can make us claim invulnerability to a disease that knows no borders.

Lord Jesus Christ, healer of all and physician of our souls and bodies, stay by our side in this time of uncertainty and sorrow.

Be with those who have died from the virus. May they be at rest with You in Your eternal peace.

Be with the families of those who are sick or have died. As they worry and grieve, defend them from illness and despair. May they know Your peace.

Be with the doctors, nurses, researchers, and all medical professionals who seek to heal and help those affected, and who put themselves at risk in the process. May they know Your protection and peace.

Be with the leaders of all nations. Give them the foresight to act with charity and true concern for the well-being of the people they are meant to serve. Give them the wisdom to invest in long-term solutions that will help prepare for or prevent future outbreaks. May they know Your peace as they work together to achieve it on earth; whether we are home or abroad, surrounded by many people suffering from this illness, or only a few.

Lord Jesus Christ, stay with us as we endure and mourn, persist and prepare. In place of our anxiety, give us Your peace.

For You are the Physician of our souls and bodies, Christ our God, and to You we offer glory, thanksgiving, and worship, together with Your Eternal Father and Your All-Holy, Good, and Lifegiving Spirit, now and forever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

A Prayer During the Coronavirus

Lord our God, have mercy on, heal and help those who are afflicted with the coronavirus and comfort and strengthen their families. Have mercy and keep safe our vulnerable populations – the elderly, those with compromised health, the poor and the uninsured. Give strength and protection to all our doctors, nurses and health workers, and to all those who need to engage with the people. Grant wisdom and discernment to our civic authorities and our church leaders to guide and comfort the people. Bless and enlighten our scientific and medical communities in their sacred work. Enlighten the media to communicate news in a sober yet accurate manner, without creating panic or chaos. Protect those who must travel. Lord, look down upon Your worldwide community and have mercy upon us all. Through this crisis, may we turn to You, discover You anew, and dwell in Your “peace that transcends all understanding.” Into Your hands, Christ our God, we commit our lives and the world around us. Amen.

O Lord Jesus Christ our God, Lover of Mankind, Physician of oursouls and bodies, who didst bear the pain of our infirmities, andby whose wounds we are healed; Who gave sight to the man bornblind; Who straightened the woman who was bent over for 18 years; Who gave speech and sight to the mute demoniac; Who not onlyforgave the paralytic his sins, but healed him to walk; Whorestored the withered hand of a troubled man; Who stopped the flowof blood of her who bled for 12 years; Who raised Jairus’ daughterto life; And brought the 4-day-dead Lazarus to life; And who healsevery infirmity under the sun:

Do now, O Lord, grant Thy grace to all those who have labored andstudied hour upon hour, to go into all the world, and also to healby the talent Thou hast given to each of them. Strengthen them, byThy strength, to fear no evil or disease. Enlighten them to do noevil by the works of their hands, and preserve them and those theyserve in peace, for Thou art our God, and we know no other, and toThee we ascribe glory together with Thy Father who is fromeverlasting, and Thy most Holy, good, and life-creating Spirit, now and ever and unto ages of ages.
