Στου αναπλιού το παλαμήδι (Το Palamidion, that is the stronghold of the city of Nafplion)

It was built by the venetians in 1700 something, according to modern standards of that time. Later it was captured by the turks and It was liberated by greeks in 1822 during the revolution against the turks. The song refers to the capture of Palamidion by the greek general Theodoros Grivas in 1827 during the civil war that broke out in the second half of the revolution, and handed it over to Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first governor of the new "free" greek state . Later it was used as a prison. Now it is a touristic attraction.

The song is in first mode, the rythm is tsamikos, there are some variations, this one is the Arkadian and refers to the historical event of 1827.
