A recent volume from the "Sources chrétiennes" series dedicated to the "Exact Exposition of the Orthodox Faith" by St. John Damascene is available online here:

http://www.editionsducerf.fr/html/fiche/ficheextrait.asp?n_liv_cerf=8789

The bibliographical data are as follows:

La foi orthodoxe ; 1-44 / Jean Damascène ; texte critique de l'édition B. Kotter (PTS 12) ; introd., trad. et notes par P. Ledrux ; avec la collab. de V. Kontouma-Conticello, G.-M. de Durand. - . - Paris : Cerf, 2010.

The first chapter deals with the biographical data available on St. John Damascene. One of the main conclusions of the author of the chapter, Vassa Kontouma-Conticello, is that contrary to what the late tradition claims, John Damascene did not take a monastic habit at St. Sabas monastery. He was a hieromonk of the Anastasis church in Jerusalem and a counselor to the Patriarch of Jerusalem John V.
