XVII • Heirmologion mostly in canon order (KaO) written near Sainte Catherine's monastery. The first part of echos protos is missing, but the rest is complete, just the order is odd and probably caused by a modal re-arrangement of the old heirmologion, look at various modal signatures used to classify just one of certain odes.

Content:
  • Echos devteros ff. 2r-25r.
  • Echos tritos and tetartos triphonon ff. 25r-38r.
  • Echos tetartos (including eso forms) and echos devteros and mesos devteros ff. 38v-57r.
  • Echos plagios devteros (including echos devteros and mesos devteros) ff. 57r-64v.
  • Echos plagios protos (also echos devteros and mesos devteros) ff. 64v- 78r.
  • Echos varys ff. 78r-87r.
  • Echos plagios tetartos (including echos tetartos and tetartos eso) ff. 87r-110v.

XVII-XVIII (recycling portions of old sticheraria written during the 15th century) • Sticherarion kalophonikon for the use at the Patriarchate of Jerusalem (emphasis on Patriarch Sophronios as a holy megalomartyre) with kalophonic settings of the Menaion, about stichera of the Holy Week (Triodion) and for Pentecost. It also has some pages of two old sticheraria (probably dating back to the 15th century) around Epiphany (Menaion), from the Holy Week (Triodion), and the stichera heothina (Oktoechos). There are as well sections with kalophonic settings of Theotokia, including one Heirmos kalophonikos, of psalm verses (ff. 95-106) and a short collection kratemata (ff. 69-79), which is in itself a Mathematarion. A complete Menaion cycle (with a small collection of stichera kalophonika and especially anagrammatismoi of selected stichera, the November collection is longer than any other one, not always in the calendaric order due to many later additions) starts again with September on folio 107 recto. The whole manuscript has many blank pages between various sections which were obviously left for later additions. Not all of these pages were filled (and pages left blank were not foliated, just numbered a, b, c etc. according to the last folio number with written content, so that the book has in fact about 500 folios or 1000 pages!), but the book is full of additions in various ink colours and written by various hands, obviously added during later centuries until the 19th, but always notated with middle Byzantine notation. The main scribe had not a very elegant and careful hand, text and neumes are often hard to read. Many later scribes just used black ink without adding any red ink in a second step (often leaving aside the majuscules and writing great signs in black).

The book opens with the kalophonic settings of idiomela for the hours of Christmas Vigil SAV 329 πλδ᾽ and ends with an anagrammatismos about the last section of SAV 740 πλβ᾽, the latest number is SAV 748 πλδ᾽ νανὰ in a kalophonic arrangement by Manuel Chrysaphes, Lampadarios of the Palatine chapel, ff. 459r-461v, both stichera for the Decollation of John the Baptist (28 August). As usual for the genre, most composers are late Byzantine as Ioannes Glykys, Ioannes Koukouzeles, Ioannes Kladas, Xenos Korones, Manuel Chrysaphes, Gregorios Mpounes Alyates etc.

Content:

  • Fragment of a Menaion kalophonikon with Christmas stichera ff. 1r-17r; January (ff. 17v-19r) kalophonic sticheron about SAV 423 πλβ᾽ for Epiphany Hours (empty folios between ff. 19v-20v).
  • Old sticherarion (Menaion of January) with stichera SAV 412-423 and bleached out red majuscules (ff. 21r-28v).
  • Another old sticherarion of the mobile cycle (around Good Friday) together with the stichera heothina from the Oktoechos book: another hand (ff. 29r-48v) offers stichera rubrified by a later hand with red ink "dedicated to Patriarch Sophronius of Jerusalem" (11 March, not present in SAV, but all of them are actually known from the Holy Week portion, so probably a part of triodion was recycled here); eleven stichera heothina ff. 36r-45v; two kalophonic settings about two other idiomela of the Holy Week.
  • Mathematarion (kalophonic settings of theotokia by Manuel Chrysaphes ff. 49r-59r; idiomela for Pentecost and heirmos kalophonikos τὴν πᾶσαν ἐλπίδα μου 59v-68v; Kratematarion with prologoi and kratemata by Gregorios Mpounes Alyates, Manuel Chrysaphes and Xenos Korones ff. 69r-79v; kalophonic settings of theotokia, katanyktika, funeral and other hymns ff. 80r-94v; psalm, pasapnoaria and polyeleos settings by Ioannes Koukouzeles, Xenos Korones and Gregorios Mpounes Alyates ff. 95r-106v).
