Deal all,

in order to cover the ever increasing costs of hosting and managing Psaltologion and to raise funds to move to a dedicated web server one day in the future as the site grows, we have introduced an optional donation system

Donate

on the navigation bar at the top of each forum page.

All donations will go towards maintaining and improving Psaltologion in the future and are greatly appreciated. All donations are optional.

If there is member support, we are planning to use the donation system to fund Psaltologion projects and make them available to benefit all.

Thank you all for your support.

I was asked whether we would consider non monetary donations by IT professionals (hosting, web development work, tech support etc.). The answer is that any propositions will be appreciated and considered by the Psaltologion admin team.

I will try to compile a list of aims for the near and long term future of Psaltologion (at the technical level) and see what and if and how kind people can contribute to.

Thank you.

Some necessary clarifications:

Our targets for the near future are in order of priority:

1. To resolve the server issues related to uploading large files, by migrating to a dedicated web server. That would also mean better management of the server by us and most likely more disk storage space for the future.

2. To improve security by migrating to the latest version of vBulletin if possible

3. To improve security and speed by moving to the latest versions of PHP/MySQL if possible

4. To allow easier access to non-Greek speaking readers of Psaltologion by converting the database to UTF-8, thus avoiding encoding issues.

For all of the above, I will seek to get quotes and will report as appropriate.

All donations will go towards the above. If none of the above targets is feasible, donations will go towards the next installment of web hosting fees of Psaltologion.

The total donation amount will be reported in due time.

Any suggestions/comments welcome.

Thank you to all.
