Hi there,

We are preparing for the feast on 21 November, and we are using the music made by Fr Seraphim Dedes in western notation.
For the 2nd kathisma in matins, we are told it is tone 4 chromatic ? what is this supposed to mean ? Somewhere I read we should be singing in plagal 2 is this correct ?

This is a particular case of (a rather rare) ἐπείσακτος (epeisaktos = foreign, guest, adopted, imported) melody.
The kathisma belongs to Tone 4, but uses the chromatic scale of plagal 2.
